The easiest bread you'll ever make! I like to throw this together before bed and then make it when I have time the next day. The cooking method, using a dutch oven with a lid, creates an amazing crust that you'd expect from a bakery. Don't worry if it looks like your bread hasn't recovered during the second rise, it will puff up in the oven.

Easy Overnight Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp yeast
  • 1 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • Directions

    • Mix dry ingredients. The small amount of yeast is important...don't be tempted to add more. This bread works because of the slow rise rate.
    • Add water. Mix with a wooden spoon until combined and "shaggy".
    • Cover bowl tightly with saran wrap. Let 'rise' for 8-24 hours.
    • Preheat oven to 450 F. Heat a dutch oven for 30 minutes. While heating, pull out the dough and form it into a ball and let it rise on a floured surface, covered loosely with plastic wrap.
    • Drop dough into dutch oven and bake, covered, for 30 minutes.
    • Remove lid and let brown for 7 to 10 minutes.
