I love biscuits and gravy and this is a quick and easy recipe! This is modified from a recipe on Allrecipes, but is less hands on. Next time you have company for breakfast make these biscuits and you'll still have time to be social!
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Cut in 1/2 cup butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix in the buttermilk. If you don't have buttermilk, you can add a tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar per cup of regular milk.)
Make sure the dough is well mixed. Pat into a pie pan or small baking dish. I use 8" oval pan. Slice into sections with a knife, but don't separate the sections completely.
Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven, until a knife inserted in the center of the square comes out clean. Separate into biscuits, and serve hot.
